About the Trust

Established in 2014 to Bridge Educational Inequities

K. Srinivasa Iyer Charitable Trust (KSICT) is a registered educational trust committed to improving social outcomes through equitable access to quality education, skill development, and opportunities for self-sustainability.

The Trust works across school and higher education ecosystems, focusing on underserved communities and enabling children and youth to realise their academic and professional potential. Over the past decade, KSICT has supported girl-child education, provided scholarships and digital access to students from economically weaker sections, adopted and strengthened a rural government school in Tamil Nadu, and designed industry-oriented certification programmes that have enabled employability and placements for diploma students.

The Trust's interventions are characterised by long-term engagement, community partnerships, and capacity building, ensuring that every initiative creates sustainable and measurable impact.

About the Founder

Mrs. Kamakshi Subramanian

17 August 1929

Mrs. Kamakshi Subramanian was a pioneering educator and philanthropist whose life embodied resilience, compassion, and service. Born in Chennai, she overcame significant personal and financial hardships to become the first woman in her family to earn an undergraduate degree. A natural leader, she served as a Scout Leader and later built a distinguished career at the Accountant General's Office, rising to the position of Superintendent.

Widowed at a young age and without children of her own, Mrs. Kamakshi devoted her life to caring for her mother and her mentally challenged brother, providing them with unwavering emotional and financial support. Her commitment to education and social welfare extended beyond her family — long before establishing the Trust, she personally supported the education of meritorious girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In an extraordinary act of selflessness, she sold her property to create the K. Srinivasa Iyer Charitable Trust, ensuring that countless more children could access opportunities that transform lives.
